The Red Stars have proposed to the group that we move out of section 134 and relocate in section 119. Seating map: www.toyotapark.com/uploads/files/stadium.pdf Possible ConsGiving up on section 134 before a full season is complete the name itself- Local 134Any promotions we've done for the group so far this year might get lost in the shuffle (or maybe not!) Possible ProsWe'll be right along the field Visibility to the video board Visible to entire stadium If we go ahead and do this, we could go live with it on July 12th. What does everyone think?

I think its a good idea. We shouldn't be needlessly bound by the decisions we made before the season started. If experience leads us in different directions, that's growth. If that means we change the name of the group, so be it. Making the group as visible and audible for the fans and players alike is critical, as is the need to have the group be able to participate in the match by seeing the entire field and being able to see the screen.

All very true... And now the question comes into play of " do we have to change the name of the group?" I don't think so, no. Didn't Section 8 Chicago originally sit in an actual section 8 and then moves happened, stadiums were moved, switched & remodeled, so they no longer sat in actual section 8 anymore? But changing the name is also always an option.

My feeling on the matter is that either way, it's on one end of the seating area. So in that essence, it really makes no difference if we move.

I think being able to see the jumbotron adds a lot to the game viewing experience and, if the Red Stars are on board with this, then go ahead and jump on it. Section 119 is also closer to the concession area which will increase the group's visibility to the public while also making beer runs quicker and easier.
A name change would be a bit of a hassle as far as updating such things as Twitter and Facebook pages and some followers on there might get disconnected. But I think it's still a good idea because it would finally clear up any confusion with Chicago's Local 134 of the IBEW.
Of course, Local 134 scarves would become instant collector's items too!

I have only just joined this group, but here is my .02 for what it is worth.
I started in section 130 for the first game and found my self behind the visitors bench. I have moved through sections 126, 125 and 124 and found it nice to see the Red Stars right in front of me as they warm up. Even during the game the players on the bench come out and warm up, right in front of section 119.
It seems to me that sitting in section 119 with full view of the jumbo screen, and the ability to see warms ups and encourage the team from a more visible area of the park is not necessarily a bad thing.

Your two cents means a lot... it's always good to get the opinion of new people/members, who don't necessarily sit with us on a regular basis. thanks!

My season tickets are in the front of Section 126. From my seats, you can't really see Section 134 and -- worse -- you can't really hear Section 134. (I think sound from there just goes across the field where it gets lost at Red Stars Games.) At the last game, the Local 134 folks in the Harlem End (Section 119) were both visible and audible, which I think is a good thing. I think the shape of the stands at the Harlem End helps keep more sound in Toyota Park.

DJ's thoughts: what are the actual reasons that facilitated this idea of a move. Basically your leaving one far end of the stadium for another.
A pro might be that the sound will project better toward the crowd as you will basically be facing them. Having the reason that you can see the scoreboard is really a non-factor.
A con will be that this probably wont entice people to come stand there with you and cheer. You would have to actually spend more money and move closer to the middle of the field to try and accomplish such a thing.
Right now L134 is falling down the Reignmen path(my Storm supporter group...RIP2009)www.facebook.com/home.php#/topic.php?uid=25744623657&topic=8346

I'm not sure what to think of all this yet as a whole... but I don't think we should change the name if we move. S8 didn't become S118 when we moved in to Toyota Park. The most positive thing I can think of is a better view of everything, the worst is that we'll be so detached from the rest of the crowd.

I just joined this group too, but I think that moving wouldn't be a bad thing. I think more people would see/hear the group there because it is so much closer to the concessions.

First off keep the name no matter where you stand. The comparison to old Soldier Field and the original Barn Burners is apt. In the long run the real issue is not where we stand but how to best generate enthusiasm and atmosphere. If we deem that 119 is best then we should as a group do it. My only concern with 119 is I thought our goal was not to become a Section 8 "clone". Would moving into one of Section 8's standing sections align us to closely with them? Do we as a group care?

I can understand not wanting to move group based on name, HOWEVER, I feel that the increased visibility would be a HUGE plus, in addition to allowing for greater support to the team so I am all for it!

I see no problem, but keeping 134 is must.

I agree with a lot of what everyone has already said. There's nothing wrong with moving to a better section before the season is over. We are growing, learning, movin' on up. Plus perhaps more people would want to sit with us if we have a good view of the jumbotron. People like jumbotrons. I definitely think we should not change the name though because we've put so much into it already. Maybe we can think of something cool that the 134 stands for. 1 team, 3 words (Chicago Red Stars) , 4-ever. haha.
